Hanna Somatic Movement Therapy
Hanna Somatic movement therapy is an elite form of exercise therapy that is designed to balance and realign the neuromuscular
system of the body, decrease muscle tension, restore functional, graceful movement, and improve posture. This Feldenkrais based
approach is also described therapeutically as repatterning, and neuromuscular reeducation.
Hanna Somatics is a system of breath-work, gentle stretching, and movement therapy that is designed to enhance all forms of
hands-on rehabilitation therapy. It works especially well with the more specific forms of soft tissue therapy such as
neuromuscular therapy, Rolf Method, mobilization, or muscle energy techniques. However, this comprehensive system of movement
therapy is extremely effective and fun when used on its own.
Hanna Somatics embodies a therapeutic process that empowers the people we work with to reclaim functional, graceful movement,
increased sensory awareness, and optimal posture. It also helps people re-gain control over their healing journey while serving
as a gentle reminder to the patient that they are responsible for their healing progress. Somatic movement therapy promotes a
more proactive and sustainable approach to rehabilitation, flexibility and postural integrity.
Somatic movement therapy is ideal for prevention, and will help rehabilitate all levels of injury. No expensive equipment is
required and somatics can be practiced in the comfort and privacy of your home or office. Somatics is based on the Feldenkrais
method of movement therapy, and also on the book Somatics-Reawakening the Minds Control over Movement, Flexibility, and Health
by Thomas Hanna, PhD. If our Somatic movement therapy approach speaks to you, call us to discuss your goals and needs, and well
help you put a plan for success in motion. |
